How does it work? A sensor on the solar panels on the roof tells the circulation module to turn the pump on which moves liquid from the tank to the solar hot water panels to be heated. This heated liquid returns to the circulation module where the heat is exchanged through a special heat exchanger. Only heat is exchanged; hot water for shower and dishes is never on the roof! At night, or when the solar collectors are not hot enough, no liquid remains in the solar hot water panels. All the liquid drains back into the tank. This type of system is called "drainback".
